Two-day “Conference on Enhancing Cybersecurity Awareness to Prevent the Theft of Research and Technology at European Institutions”, June 12-13, 2024, Ljubljana, Slovenia.

The event focused on key topics regarding research integrity and cybersecurity in academic, private, and public institutions in Macedonia, Romania, Slovenia, and Serbia. Participants explored effective cybersecurity strategies aimed at strengthening data protection and preventing the unlawful appropriation of intellectual property (IP) and technology. More than 50 participants attended.
M.Sc. Ljubica Krstevska, representing the Heidelberg Faculty of Skopje, was a speaker on the panel dedicated to “Protecting research integrity in the age of digitalization and increased geopolitical competition between liberal democracies and malign authoritarian regimes,” along with Gabriel Raicu, Rector of Constanta Maritime University, Romania, and Gabriela Matei, Euro Atlantic Resilience Centre, Romania, moderated by Prof. Dr. Metodi Hadji-Janev, Military Academy Skopje, Republic of North Macedonia.
Reflecting on the immense value of data in an era of advanced technology, artificial intelligence, and machine learning, the representative from the Heidelberg Faculty of Skopje, M.Sc. Ljubica, emphasized the importance of awareness and advanced knowledge of specific cyber threats, as well as fostering dialogue among key stakeholders across sectors and countries, and supporting practical measures that address threats to the public, private, research and technology sectors.
